The 'De Stallen' proposal introduced a straightforward yet impactful alternative to alleviate traffic on the Nijenoord Allee-Mansholtlaan/Willem Dreeslaan route. The plan involved leveraging the existing free carpool parking at the Ede-Wageningen A12 exit by adding a bus stop and offering free bus services to and from Wageningen. By encouraging drivers to park their cars and take the bus, we aimed to reduce road congestion and save commuters time. The proposal had impact on the plans developed by the province in later stages, pushed by the majorty of the VVD, as it the bus stop and the park and ride were later included into the plans.
The proposal adopted the principle that every disadvantage has its advantage, the traffic being stuck on this road was a useful funnel to keep the traffic outside the city of Wageningen. We propose to offer free parking at the highway exit to N781 along with complimentary bus rides to Wageningen. This strategy was designed to ease congestion while minimizing the impact of construction on traffic flow.
As demand grows, we plan to expand the parking capacity at the Carpool Ede A12, eventually leading to the construction of the 'De Stallen' parking garage. This initiative not only offers an alternative to the Campus route but also strives to enhance the overall commuting experience by maintaining the efficiency of bus lanes and avoiding traffic jams. The parking garages would be in buidings that looked like barns.
